The International Resources Management Institute (IRMI) was established in 1990. It is a research, management, and educational organization focused on sustainable development of primary industry, poverty reduction through social enterprise and entrepreneurship development, and adaptation to climatic and other changes, primarily in Southeast Asia.
Together with local partner organizations, IRMI
- undertakes research, management, training, and consulting services;
- implements and manages development projects;
- produces materials for education;
- promotes international ‘Green’ business; and
- publishes scientific studies.
Research, Management, Training, Consulting, and Preparation of Educational Materials:
These are all done on a contractual basis, with various clients.
Promotion of International ‘Green Business’:
Together with its local partners, and as an integral part of its ‘sustainable development’ activities, IRMI provides introductory services, establishment-set-up, consumer and market evaluation, product trials, in-country training, marketing, and feedback survey and evaluation for international ‘green businesses’ wishing to enter Southeast Asian markets.
Publications:
IRMI makes available electronically and at low cost scientific studies prepared by the institute and others. Because downloaded publications are intended as a public service, and only a nominal cost is charged to cover expenses, all communication is by email, and all payments must be made using PayPal.
Socially Responsible, or Not-for-profit, Activities:
Together with its local partners, IRMI undertakes non-for-profit or socially-based low profit activities to assist indigent groups of children, women, the elderly, and cultural, religious, social, or other minorities or vulnerable groups. It does this by providing consultancy services for local social enterprise and social entrepreneurship development, to enable such groups to improve their economic and employment conditions, and by helping them obtain external funding to support the activities.
